Room Air Purifier - Levoit
Prior to a Minnesota Winter I was very interested in getting something to help clean the air while we went into hibernation for the Minnesota winter.
But what is the smallest and quietest room air purifier? An air purifier is a simple fan that pushes air through a filter. Air purifiers are traditionally floor standing large appliances. Very few are sleek, small, and quiet enough for a shelf. Levoit is one the only unit I was able to find that fits those key characteristics.
This room air purifier by Levoit was a purchase in Fall/Autumn prior to going into the Minnesota winter hibernation. Many of the air purifiers I found were massive floor standing units that took up a large amount of space, most seemed like they’d be very loud and take up a lot of “Always On” energy.
The Levoit HEPA air purifier was the most compact, clean looking, and silent purifiers I was able to find. This has helped throughout the fall and winter. We keep this always running on the lowest setting. It seems to help keep the air moving in our living room, even when the furnace fan is cycling to save energy.
7 Month Update & Filters
After about seven (7) months I switched out the filter, I totally forgot to take a picture before using my air compressor to blow it off, but it had dust clumps all around the filter, some areas more than others.
When going back for another filter, the Levoit site and Amazon offer a few different models that seem to support more specific homes, such as city living or having pets in the home. The filter model # Core 300-RF comes in:
a. Standard Filter - White
b. Toxin Absorber - Blue
c. Mold Bacteria - Green
d. Pet Allergy - Yellow
(Check Amazon Pricing)
We purchased the Toxin Absorber, only because I needed to replace during the covid-19 pandemic and the standard filter was back ordered. I’m not entirely sure how they differ other than color.
15 Month Update
As 2020 is coming to an end ( 15 month update written 12/27/2020), we’ve now purchased a second Core 300 for the basement. I did a second filter change on the upstairs one and was again so impressed with how much dust was collected that we had to get another. I also stocked up on a few filters with the second unit (see links above).
With Covid-19 still around this item seems to have become very popular. My parents have now purchased two (2) of them for their house and gifted a third to my brother!
