Energy Management – SmartThings Hub

When I’m asked a few questions the answer is the same across the similar questions:

Where do I start with home automation to save energy?
How can I save money and energy with home automation?
How can I turn my lights off from bed?
What app can control my home lights?

The Samsung SmartThings Hub is the most flexible home automation and energy management device on the market. The hub manages everything from bulbs, switches, sensors, security, thermostats, and many more Z-Wave or ZigBee devices. This allows for simple linking across device types and manufacturers.

This SmartThings device is central to the automation of all the energy consuming devices in the home. SmartThings can bring so many devices together and apply that simple automation that helps save time, money, and energy along the way.

Very little do I see this marketed as an energy savings or energy optimization tool, yet once we installed this and expanded our devices it was easy to manage the lighting, temperature, and state of the house. The hub is an easy install with power and network, we installed ours next to the WiFi router. Once you’ve got the smarthub installed check out the Leviton Switch or Ecolink Motion posts that start to talk about how this links them to work together and saves both environmentally and financially.
